Helen Whang was born in 1990 in Seoul, Korea. Moving back and forth between Korea and the U.S. in her formative years, she was able to grow familiar with and inhabit both distinct Eastern and Western cultures. Growing up in Southern California for more than 10 years has helped enhance her creativity and expressivity, especially in the arts of singing, dancing, and most importantly, painting. She attended University of Southern California (USC), contributing to a full 'SoCal' experience, and in December 2013, she received her BA in Fine Arts at Roski School of Art and Design. Given many opportunities, she participated in various exhibitions at USC, including Roski Annual Student Exhibition at USC Fisher Museum, a senior run show called “Stage 1” at Lindhurst Gallery, along with numerous Lindhurst Glass Case displays, and a student run show called “Love Creates” at the University Church. Whang currently lives and works in Seoul, Korea, but she plans to continue traveling between the two countries as she starts building and expanding her artistic practice.
